ABOUT THE
SUMMER PROGRAMME
DETAILS
Following the success of choreographer Ruaidhri Maguire's Professional Ballet Lab in 2021 and 2022, we are delighted to offer dancers a 3-week intensive youth ballet production in Belfast of new ballet White Doves.

The programme is designed to emulate a professional dance company experience. All participating dancers will receive technical and performance coaching to enhance their skills and experience on-stage and off. This is the first opportunity like this in Northern Ireland.

All participants will work with a team of professional ballet dancers who have danced across the world, currently working in ballet companies or are retired from the profession. All staff hold valid Access NI checks.

WHAT ROLE WILL I DANCE?
The Junior Company will be at the centre of the White Doves production. We are auditioning for several male and female principal roles, supporting characters with solos and corps de ballet (ensemble) roles. The principal characters will be cast during this audition.
Over the course of two rehearsal weeks, all members of the Junior Company will work together in a professional dance company environment alongside professionals, before performing together for four performances at the MAC Belfast.

A Junior Company is the term commonly used to a company which bridges the gap between training and professional practice.

White Doves
a new ballet for Belfast
3rd - 5th August 2023
The MAC Belfast
Dance offers the opportunity for expression beyond what words can achieve. The first of its kind, White Doves is the first ballet created on Belfast for a Belfast audience.
In development since 2020, the work is by local creatives with new choreography by Six Dance Collective founder Ruaidhrí Maguire with music by composer Amelia Clarkson. The production will be performed by a Junior Company of dancers from across Northern Ireland alongside two international professional ballet soloists and live musicians.

Danced by the new generation
The work bridges an important gap for aspiring dancers across the province. As Northern Ireland’s first newly choreographed ballet, the Junior Company of local dancers will have the opportunity to dance alongside international ballet soloists and professional musicians.
