About the event

Thursday 20th July 2023

6pm - 9pm

St Malachy's, 24 Alfred Street, Belfast, BT2 8EN

Join Six Dance Collective's Artistic Director and choreographer, Ruaidhrí Maguire, for an evening of ballet technique and new choreography.

In an immersive 3-hour session, dancers are invited to immerse themselves in the world of Vaganova-style technique, followed by the opportunity to learn new choreography from SDC's upcoming ballet, White Doves. Participants will experience the movement style before the new work hits the stage at the MAC this August. We hope the evening will be a welcoming, open environment (with a bit of craic) as participants are guided through a technique class and some new material under Ruaidhrí’s watchful eye.

Whether you're a passionate dancer embarking on a new journey or rekindling or nurturing your love for ballet, we welcome everyone and will provide adjustments for all levels.

The evening will consist of:

  • A Vaganova based technique class - the method used throughout the world's top ballet schools and companies
  • Learning the new choreography of a corps de ballet section from SDC’s upcoming production of White Doves
  • A chance to connect with and learn from your peers and friendly dance faces
  • Tea, coffee, a bun if you fancy (and a yarn)

Who is it for?

No specific level of dance required but some experience of ballet is encouraged.
