Summer Dance Lab 2024

Six Dance Collective’s 2024 Summer Dance Lab comes to the MAC this August. This intensive follows last year’s successful production of White Doves, which saw 28 aspiring dancers take to the stage side-by-side with international dancers in a new ballet, alongside several recent worshops. 

For this year’s intensive, we aim to provide dancers with the opportunity to learn from established dancers working in ballet and contemporary dance for an intensive and fun week of masterclasses to push technique and performance skills.  Read about the Faculty of Artists here.

Masterclasses will include:

• Vaganova technique and learning solos from the classical ballet repertoire
• Contemporary dance technique and performance skills, including floor work
• Exploring modern ballet choreography for SDC's next youth production
• Acting through movement

Who is it for?

Ages 12* - 22

All genders

No audition. Recommended standard: 

For ballet:

Grade 5 or Intermediate Foundation level and above advised (no exam needed). 

Pointework will be covered for those who are confident, but this is not a requirement.

For Contemporary, this will different for every dancer - some experience recommended but not necessary.

For male dancers, we understand that the standard may be lower, but we encourage participation. Please contact us to discuss.

The intensive will be facilitated with two groups across two studios. All dancers will have sessions with all teachers.

Booking is open.  Places in each group are limited due to studio capacity.
