Let's MOVE. Dancers are invited to join Six Dance Collective at the MAC for a full-day intensive workshop at The MAC Belfast led by local professional artists. Across the day we'll cover both ballet and contemporary dance, delving into essential ballet and contemporary technique to push participating dancers to reach beyond their perceived limitations.

Under the guidance of SDC's Artistic Director, choreographer and classical dancer Ruaidhrí Maguire alongside guest contemporary dance artist Clara Kerr, the day will include:

  • A Vaganova-based Technique ballet class, renowned in the world's most prestigious ballet schools 
  • Exploring neoclassical (modern) ballet repertoire, 
  • A Contemporary technique class
  • Putting technique into action exploring contemporary dance repertoire

This follows our Dance in Motion performance at the MAC Belfast on Friday 19th April.

Who is it for?

12+ 

All genders

Reccomended standard: For ballet, Grade 5 or Intermediate Foundation level and above advised (no exam needed). For Contemporary, this will different for every dancer - some experience reccomended but not necessary.

Adult dancers welcome.

Workshop Artists

Ballet with Ruaidhrí Maguire SDC Artistic Director Ruaidhrí is an Irish ballet dancer and choreographer currently working as a dancer with the National Ballet of Ireland. Prior, he danced with the Baltic Opera Ballet as the youngest male principal dancer, previously dancing Milwaukee Ballet II and with Ballet Victoria. Ruaidhrí trained at the Central School of Ballet. As a choreographer he premiered new works across the UK, Ireland, Poland and Japan, including SDC's inaugural production 'White Doves' at The MAC in 2023.. He has been a resident artist with Dance Ireland and Galway Dance Project.

Contemporary with Clara Kerr

Clara is a County Down based dance artist who trained at LIPA, achieving a BA in Dance with 1st Class Honours. Clara has worked extensively throughout the UK and Ireland, with recent working projects with Maiden Voyage Dance, Cameron Tharma and ‘The Children of Lir’, Denise Catney, Fidget Feet and with Northern Ireland Opera. Clara has most recently founded Seen Dance Company, a new energetic dance company whose interests include tell Irish stories, old and new.
