About Six Dance Collective

Founded in 2023, Six Dance Collective is a non-profit dance company based in Northern Ireland. We are dedicated to providing audiences with new access to the transformative power of dance. As part of our mission, we create unique repertoire relevant to our times, contributing meaningfully to the future of ballet and dance as an adventurous theatrical form in Northern Ireland and beyond.

We are committed to creating opportunities for artists across all forms to collaborate, inspiring innovation and growth. In our first 18 months, we have collaborated with and employed over 25 local and national artists working in dance, music, theatre, and education.

Our work is divided into three strands: Create, Uplift, and Train.

We aim to bring contemporary relevance to ballet by creating and presenting original, collaborative works that respond to local and global issues. In 2023, we premiered our first creation, the two-act youth ballet 'White Doves'. Looking ahead, 2025 will see our first fully professional programme, followed by a second youth production.

To support the growth of dance in Northern Ireland, we've launched our 'Dance in Motion' initiative in collaboration with The MAC, providing a platform for emerging dance artists. The first edition in April 2024 was a success, with plans to return in Spring 2025. Additionally, our dancers recently performed at Eisteddfod 2024 in Wales, showcasing Irish and Northern Irish talent on a national stage.

Our training and outreach programs have engaged over 100 aspiring dancers from nine counties, providing enriching training experiences that connect young people with professional dancers. Our inaugural production, White Doves, featured 28 talented young dancers performing alongside international soloists and musicians in a newly choreographed and composed work.
