Booking has opened for Six Dance Collective's 5-day Summer Dance Lab in central Belfast.
Six Dance Collective’s 2024 Summer Dance Lab comes to The MAC for five full days of dance in central Belfast from Monday 12th - Friday 16th August 2024.
This year's intensive offers dancers the opportunity to immerse themselves in ballet and contemporary dance. Through a series of masterclasses led by six professional dancers, the week will encompass a wide range of styles and techniques. Ballet teaching will be centred on Vaganova technique, and all dancers will learn solos from renowned classical ballets alongside modern ballet choreography. Contemporary classes will cover basic technique and performance skills including floor work, alongside delving into elements of acting through movement.
Summer Dance Lab follows SDC's successful 2023 production of White Doves, which saw 28 aspiring dancers from across the island take to the stage side-by-side with international dancers.
Dancers will be excited to hear that this 2024 intensive includes a session exploring new choreography with SDC Artistic Director Ruaidhrí Maguire for the next youth ballet production.
All dancers aged 12-22 who are dancing at a level of Grads 5 ballet or intermediate foundation and above are invited to join. There is no audition. SDC is proud to regularly welcome dancers from across the island.
